Kabir- Antarman ki Awaaz– A musical enlightening journey by Vidhi Sharma on 30th March 2019 from 7 pm onwards at the Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre.The musical journey that leads one to the pathways of that Supreme Power that resides in all of us. The musical has myriad emotions that aesthetically showcases love, faith and truth through a collection of ten Kabir couplets and songs composed in different styles of Indian music. The selected bhajans include both popular and rare gems from Kabir’s collection that are composed in various genres.

The musical starts with a vocal narration about Kabir and precedes every song explaining the thought behind that song. Kabir poetry will be sung live by Vidhi Sharmato the music composed by Pt. Ajay Prasanna and will be accompanied with dance choreography by Maitreyee Pahari. All these artistic elements put together make “Kabir- Antarman ki Awaaz” what it sounds, looks and means. These artistic and aesthetical elements have been incorporated in order to drench the audience with vibrant colors of music, literature, dance and visuals. A musical, spiritual and literary treat, “Kabir- Antarman ki Awaaz” will be a complete journey for the audience of all generations, for people from all walks of life.

Artist Line up for the evening

1. Vocals- Vidhi Sharma

Blessed with a soulful voice, Vidhi Sharma has been awarded the title of “Bhakti ki Awaaz” for two years consecutively by stalwarts of the music industry like Padma Shri Anup Jalota ji, Padmashri Smt. Shubha Mudgal ji, Smt. Sudha Malhotra ji, late Shri Jagjit Singh ji and Kailash Kher ji. Vidhi went on to become one of the most sorts after voices for numerous soulful albums. She has won GIMA (Global Indian Music Award) for the album ‘Cinema’in the best fusion album category (2013). Known for her melodious voice, Vidhi has performed at various International and National music festivals like one of the world’s biggest festivals- the Baalbek International Festival in Lebanon; The ASEAN Summit, New Delhi; Mula Festival at the IIFA in Madrid; World sufi music festival- Jahan-e-Khusrau, New Delhi; Jaipur Literature Festival.

2. Music Director-Pt.Ajay Prasanna

Hailing from the holy city of Banaras, also known as the city of Kabir’s origin, Pt. Ajay Prasanna inherited the musical genes of his father and the great guru Pt. Bhola Nath Prasanna- who is also the guru of the greatest flute players of our nation- Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia. His strong roots in Indian classical music did not limit him to experiment with world music. A three- time grammy nominee for his excellent album collaborations with various artists from around the world, He has received the “Sangeet Ratna Award” by Swami Haridas Samiti, Vrindavan and “Surmani Award” by Surshringar Sansad, Mumbai. Ajay Prasanna has also received the honorable “Bharat Gourav Samman” by the Orissa Academy of Tribal Culture Research & Performing Arts. Pt. Ajay Prasanna worked on the music of Kabir for two years and the wait was worthwhile as he has kept the soul of Kabir in tact and also added new dimensions to the music in order to create a soulful sound that will reverberate with the listeners for long.

3. Choreographer and Art Director- Ms. Maitreyee Pahari

A name to reckon with when it comes to dance and artwork, Ms. Maitreyee Pahari has been in the industry of dance and arts for the past 35 years. She learnt Kathak under the tutelage of Padma Vibushan Pt. Birju Maharaj. A religious disciple of the most celebrated dance guru Padma Vibushan Pt. Birju Maharaj ji, Maitreyee got an extensive exposure to dance at world platform. As a result of her hardwork and dedication, she started her own Cultural unit by the name of Lok Chhanda thus conducting her own massive productions across the globe in order to preserve, promote and propagate Indian cultural art forms. Apart from her own productions, she works extensively with the prestigious Ministry of culture, Govt. of India and State Governments, ICCR, etc. and has been instrumental in successfully designing and choreographing the events for almost 20 years all over the world. Her efficient team of dancers, graphic designers and light technicians always make it a memorable event for her audience. She has had the record of working with and choreographing more than 500 dancers from all over the world on one stage
