Sh. Rajiv Chaudhry, General Manager Northern & North Central Railways informed that to increase the share of freight traffic through Railways, Dedicated Business Development Units (BDU) have been set up at Headquarters as well as at Divisional level also. Northern Railway through its Business Development Unit (BDU) team has been striving to increase freight business. The continuous efforts of BDU of Delhi Division for capturing new streams of traffic, has resulted into loading of a Molasses rake in 48 BTPN from Gohana (Haryana ) Station to Khurda Road Jn. (Odisha) Station on 12.09.2020, resulting into a Freight Revenue of Rs.7401354/. This commodity has been loaded from Gohana station after an interval of more than two years.
With the pursuant to efforts of Business Development Units of Lucknow Division, wherein extensive customer outreach and interactions were conducted, Division has been able to achieve the first ever Rice loading from Mohan Lal Ganj to Azara and Balrampur Chini Mills Limited did the first ever loading from Faizabad to Dankuni. Seventh Vyapar Mala of Northern Railway run by combining 21 wagons of wheat from Sultanpur-Salchhapra and De-oiled cake from Faizabad-Changrabandha.
The above traffic was moving from road and has been diverted to the rail by the favorable policy environment and intensive outreach program by the BDU.
Northern Railway will continue its efforts to increase freight business through outreach and enhanced engagement with companies in future also.
