General Manager Northern & North Central Railways, Sh. Rajiv Chaudhry released a booklet “Initiatives Taken by Northern Railway to Enhance Safety Standards During Lockdown” through video conference, today. It is a compilation of work done by the various departments and divisions of the zone focusing on Safety during the lockdown period of Covid-19. It highlights the efforts put in by the Railwaymen to deep check, maintain and repair the track system and the rolling stock assets to meet all laid safety standards.
Northern Railway has been ceaselessly working throughout the Covid-19 lockdown period to support the Nation fight the pandemic. The time period when train traffic was minimal was effectively utilized by the zone for inspecting, maintaining and repairing its assets. Activities like dismantling, removal, repair or replacement of structures like FOBs, Bridges and level crossings etc which required long blocks for the activity on high density routes were carried out with relative ease and least disturbance during the lockdown. The efforts have resulted in no consequential train accident during the period April-Aug 2020.
Releasing the book Sh. Chaudhry called upon the employees to keep up their good work. He added that as the nation’s prime transporter the Railways has a greater responsibility post-lockdown. We will leave no effort in contributing towards India’s growth and development.
