Movie: The Sky Is Pink
Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim, Rohit Saraf
Director: Shonali Bose
Time: 2 hours 15 mins
The film, The Sky Is Pink, is based on a true story of Aditi chaudhary and Niren Chaudhary (Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar), their love story and how they deal with the illness and subsequent death of their 19-year old daughter Aisha (Zahira Wasim).
The movie begins with Aisha’s voiceover, declaring that she is, in fact, dead. The wry humour and wit in her narration draws us in immediately. Aditi’s and Niren’s life is turned upside down when they learn their daughter, Aisha is suffering from SCID. It’s heartwarming to watch the determination and hope of a middle-class couple trying to raise money for the treatment in London. There’s a time when Aditi has to stay alone with Aisha for her treatment while Niren and Ishan (Rohit Saraf), their elder son because of their job and Education.
The little things throughout the movie will make you laugh and cry. The jealousy, the pampering, the phone conversations, Aditi and Niren’s chemistry and everything!
The first half of the movie takes us through Aditi and Niren’s early years of romance and Aisha’s illness while the second half goes deeper and have more intense situations. Shaonali Bose has done an incredible job at making such an intense movie with perfect balance but there are few times when it seemed lengthy and there were a few scenes, which asked for some delving, Couple of scenes that felt repetitive. Also, the run-time could’ve been a bit shorter, just a bit.
Aditi is a very strong character on screen and in reality, her personality and beliefs are something one needs to add in their life.
Priyanka Chopra who made a comeback after 3 years in Bollywood, is a pleasure to watch. Her emotions were no where overdone or looked fake. Throughout she looked like a determined mother willing to go till extends to keep her daughter alive.
Farhan Akhtar has a strong yet emotional character to play which he did naturally. The chemistry between him and Priyanka was too quite believable and at points relatable.
Zahira Wasim is the star of the movie, is all I’ll say and Rohit Safar might have less screen time but every time he comes on screen, he either will make you laugh or cry with his actions. The emotions he brings on screen are to be applauded.
They all as individuals had different roles but together they are a very happy and close family who share and talk about Everything. And no matter what you’ll root for them throughout, laugh and cry throughout.

Overall the movie is an emotional journey that will make you grab a box of tissues. An amazing cast doing a great screenplay will have your attention the whole time. The most special part in the whole movie is the last 5 min where the videos, pictures and messages are shared of the real Chaudhary Family.
YOU’LL LAUGH WITH THEM, YOU’LL CRY WITH THEM BUT MOSTLY YOU’LL BE INSPIRED BY CHAUDHARY FAMILY’S JOURNEY OF LOVE AND LIFE
