“Judgementall Hai Kya” Movie review : A great try to make something that was “untouched” in Bollywood

Film: Judgementall Hai Kya

Writer: Kanika Dhillon

Director: Prakash Kovelamudi

Actors: Kangana Ranaut, Rajkummar Rao, Jimmy Shergill

Stars: 3.0/5.0

Judgementall Hai Kya tells the story of Bobby (Kangana Ranaut) who suffers from chronic psychosis because of her traumatic childhood. She works as a dubbing artists but deep down she wants to be a actress which her manger cum boyfriend fails to achieve. The catch here is, every movie she has ever dubbed stays with her. She take the characters so seriously that she actually lives them in real life. And one time in a studio when she dubbing a female police officer, she stabbed her co-worker when he tried to misbehave because of which she was send to the asylum. After coming back she learns from her relative that her cousin and his husband Keshav (RajKumar Rao) are going to stay with her as tenant until their home is renovated.

A few days down the line, Keshav’s wife is killed in a gruesome fire mishap and Bobby is somehow convinced that Keshav is the murderer! She goes all out to prove to the cops that he is indeed guilty but due to her circumstances and her way of putting the things together she is taken to be a lunatic and is sent to the asylum, again!

After being released, she visits her cousin in London and much to her surprise, she finds Keshav has now married her cousin who is also pregnant with her child. Even though she tries to calm her nerves down by gulping down the prescribed pills, she strongly feels that something is amiss with Keshav and once again she starts hunting for proofs that would prove Keshav is indeed the killer and now he wants to kill his second wife too!

Jimmy Shergill is a play director who tries to understand Bobby. His sweet smile and soft countenance make Bobby feel good, he tries to help her with her trust issues and tries to analyse situations by putting himself in her shoes! His warmth comes as a much-needed dose of soft romance in this psychotic thriller.

The end the truth eventually comes out and Keshav is indeed a killer, a phycotic killer who haven’t only killed his ex wife but also many other people.

The story has some loopholes but kangana’s acting has steal the show though I feel RajKumar Rao acting as a romantic husband is great but in the end this phycotic killer role doesn’t level up.

The try to doing something new by taking an untouched road of Bollywood is very much appreciated but the social message or was trying to give wasn’t really very clear also the title of the film “Judgmentall Hai Kya” isn’t anywhere close to the story.

I’ll give is 3.0/5.0 stars
