A few days back Deepika took part in a social experiment were she dressed as Malti and walked on the streets of Mumbai along with 4 other acid attack survivers to see the how people react on seeing them..

Now, with her team she did another experiment to find out how easy it is to buy acid in the country. Her team was able to collect 24 bottles of acid from multiple shops in Mumbai.

Members of Deepika’s team dressed and acted as regular professionals, like a plumber, a businessman, a student, a drunkard, even a housewife and a street goon, to conduct the experiment. The actress, on the other hand, watched them buy the acid bottles from her car.

The video starts with Deepika Padukone saying, “ Agar apko koi propose kare or aap mana Kar de, kese ke pareshan Karne par Awaaz uthaie , ya Apne haak ke lea ladhe or aap Kar koi acid fek de..” She further adds the real reason of acid attacks “Acid bikne ki sabse badi vajah acid khud hai. Check out the video :

In the video, the actors can be seen asking the shopkeepers to give the strongest acid ‘which can burn somebody’s skin‘. Most of the shopkeepers didn’t even enquire much about the buyers and didn’t ask for ID proofs. However, there were some who told the buyers that the acid can’t be sold without ID proof.

She adds, “I think along with the shopkeepers it’s also our responsibility to inform the police if we see anyone illegally buying or selling acid.”

At the end of the video, Deepika Padukone reveals that her team collected 24 bottles from different part of Mumbai. She says, “I cannot believe that we were able to buy 24 bottles of acid in just one day even after the Supreme Court ruling which sets strict rules for the sale of acid.

In the video, we can see a few more people at the shops who do not question why these customers need hard acid that’ll burn the skins. The more scary part of this video are the people around who are ignoring the purchase. We all need to be more aware of our surroundings and see what’s wrong is happening. And if we can’t stop the act we atleast can inform the police.

Let’s all take the responsibility of saving girls, let’s all be more aware and informed.
